LIVING
"Alive! She’s Alive! Alive I Tell You…!"
All drama aside, I am indeed alive and apologize that it has taken me such an inordinately long time to give you a reading on my pulse. But I have been a rather busy girl.
For starters, I had to go to New York for a business trip and then, three days after I got back, I moved into my new apartment, which I absolutely love.
It’s taken a bit longer to get settled in than I had anticipated, but each and every morning I wake up and see the stark white of my walls bathed in golden sunlight and smile, knowing I can take my waking slow. I’m appreciating the little things to the point of poetry and it’s filling my soul with the comfort only akin to a long lost friend…
In short, I’m feeling wonderful, well adjusted, and ready to start baking again.
Leo has named my apartment the “Little House,” because everything in it is drastically smaller than the house Tim and I shared.
Needless to say, the name instantly stuck; can you believe how small my oven is?! I can’t even fit a half sheet baking pan in this little guy; I have to use one-quarter sized jellyroll pans!
The oven does hold a steady temperature, though, which is a good indicator, but the real test occurs tomorrow when Leo and I make the first batch of chocolate chip cookies in it. This is when I test the oven for how evenly it bakes. If it bakes extremely unevenly, I’m gonna have to bite the bullet and buy a new one, so pray that this thing doesn’t do me wrong during the next twenty-four hours…
